Oktavia Grímsdóttir

Oktavia Grímsdóttir
The limited edition Oktavia sculpt made available with the release of the Infinity N4 rulebook. She's a great sculpt, but the production version is just as tasty!

Such a fun model to paint, but a profile that goes unloved in so many infinity forces. She's even labeled as "that merc that nobody uses" in the Tabletop Simulator Infinity 3d Models Workshop addon. Sad to think that this lovely model goes so unused. My personal choice to tackle this project was inspired by the Operation Hungry Walrus global fanmade campaign this past 2023 year! I painted her up to take on my friend in a megabeast mission on the New Hypatia docks location for Phase 2 of the campaign operations!

The WALRUS-PODE

Though the mission didn't go exactly as planned, I did manage to score the final blow on the beast with Oktavia, nailing a personal goal for that engagement despite losing to my superior opponent! We had a blast regardless, and the local FLGS is always such a great location to play at. If you find yourself in the San Francisco Bay Area, swing on by Gamescape (333 Divisidero St) on a Monday evening and you may just find some table space and a willing opponent ready to showcase some intense Infinity action with models to spare :D

The best little hole-in-the-wall game shop with the friendliest of staff!

THE PROJECT

Painting, prepping, playing.

Oktavia was a smooth paint-up, which followed my usual formula for Candy Corps models save for a few extra touches that distinguish her from the rest of my forces:
- Primer coat
- Base color
- Heavy ink wask
- Re-establish base color
- Highlight one
- Highlight two

Though I wanted her to blend into my forces with the standard colors (Apple Barrel Bright Magenta and Turquoise, Citadel Mechanicus Standard Grey and Balor Brown), it was pretty trivial to make her stand out as Oktavia proper with some easy detailing. This project was the first time I've tried out citadel's Imperial Fist Contrast color (a fantastic color to make that high visibility jacket pop!), and was a great excuse to work with Fire Dragon bright, despite its poor coverage.
